DIY Resurrection Eggs are an easy & meaningful Easter activity for kids. This step by step tutorial gives you a free printable so you can easily make DIY Resurrection Eggs. Share the gospel with your children this Easter.
Are you looking for a creative way to help your little ones understand the significance of Easter? Resurrection eggs are a simple and fun way to tell the Easter story and celebrate Jesus’s resurrection. Each eggs contains a different part of the story. The last egg is empty symbolizing the resurrection!
The resurrection eggs were my favorite part of Easter last year. Because it was such a meaningful time where we were focusing on Christ as a family. My oldest daughter asked really important questions and it was a great way to share about Christ’s love for us.
One thing that really worked well was setting aside a special time for this activity. We did the resurrection eggs the day before Easter when we didn’t have anything else planned. I was so thankful we did. Because the time didn’t feel rushed and just added to the joy of sharing the Easter story together.
I also found it really helpful to use a children’s Bible to help go along with searching for the eggs. We used the Jesus Storybook Bible which worked really well. This way you have pictures to also help tell the story, which I think is really helpful for younger children.

Step 5: Open the DIY Resurrection Eggs with your children
Take out each item and discuss what they think the item is. Going in the order of the DIY Resurrection eggs. Read the verse on the printable, and show them that part in the children’s Bible. Continue until all the eggs are done.
Step 7: Celebrate Together!
The last egg is the empty one. So it is a pretty big deal! It’s fun to have a way to celebrate this either with candy or a meal or some way to help them understand the really good news! He is risen!
Remember to Ask for God’s Help:
Another step worth mentioning is to pray for your time before you start. Ask God to quiet your heart and speak to your children. Then again at the end thanking Him for this incredible gift!

I absolutely love the Easter egg activity. I plan to do it next year with my grand daughter. It’ll give me plenty of time to get it all together and she’ll be old enough to do it with next year. Thank you so much for this special family activity.
