Happy New Year!! Happy new Decade!! I think I am finally starting to feel ready to embrace a new year. Even though I had been feeling like holding on to Christmas a little bit longer this week, now that the ball has dropped in Times Square it feels more like the new year is here! Today I am mentally feeling more ready to look forward to the new year. But before I do that I did want to glance back at 2019 and celebrate the top 5 posts of 2019!
2019 was a year of firsts for me. This is the first year my daughter was in school. The first full year of being a stay at home parent. And in March of 2019 I first started as a faith-based DIY blogger for the first time. There were a lot of ups and downs in 2019, like probably for the rest of you, and in many ways I am happy to be moving on to a new year and a new decade!
Today I want to look back at the past year and start by saying thanks to you for being a reader and being on this blogging journey with me in 2019! Thanks for reading and crafting along. I especially enjoy blogging when I hear from readers. I like hearing about the projects you are working on and they ways different posts encourage you or ideas you have for new posts.
As a way to celebrate where we have been I thought it would be neat to review the top 5 posts from A Well Purposed Woman for 2019. These are the top 5 posts according to readers and I think you might recognize a few of them. But also so you don’t miss any of them!
The top 5 Posts from 2019:
#1. How to Make Fabric Pumpkins from Old Socks
In August I did a post on how to make adorable fabric pumpkins using re-purposed items. These little pumpkins were lots of fun to make. I think the coolest part was they could be made from a simple pair of old socks. I was able to see a lot of the pumpkins that you made too, and was most impressed with how each person puts their own personal spin on them. This was the #1 post from 2019!
#2. How to Make an Easy Burlap Wreath
At the beginning of September I did a post on how to make a very easy fall burlap wreath. I had seen a burlap wreath at a boutique and wanted to learn how to make one. I could only find long tutorials on-line and since I didn’t have the patience for that I made my own. It is a simple simple process and does not require a lengthy video tutorial. It is something anyone can learn to make in no time!
#3. How to Make DIY Sock Gnomes
Fast forward a little bit and the next most popular post was one for my 12 Days of Christmas Crafting series. Like the sock pumpkins. These little gnomes were made from old socks as well. They were even easier to make and could be made with or without sewing. Gnomes are so fun and I think the cozy textures of these guys made them a hit!
#4. How to make Pumpkins from Old Sweaters
Back to the fall for this 4th top performing post. Making fabric pumpkins out of my father-in-law’s old sweater. This sweater made for really attractive white pumpkins. Old sweaters are an economical way to make a lot of different craft items and these pumpkins were no exception. Whoever said beautiful things have to be expensive.
#5. How to Make a Fabric Wreath from Old Curtains
One of the first kinds of wreaths I made were fabric rag wreaths. The 5th most popular post was this one. I like these wreaths best when in neutral colors and think they can add a pop of texture and warmth to any space. This wreath was made from an old pair of curtains. The curtains were super outdated by the fabric was beautiful. I just couldn’t imagine just dropping it off at a thrift store. These curtains made one of my favorite rag wreaths to date!
Thanks for making 2019 great!
It has been enriching to my life to start a blog and get to know you better! For me that is the most motivating and exciting part of looking forward to 2020! Continuing to get to know each other, doing life and crafting together in 2020! I have lots of ideas for the new year and am starting to really get excited for the new things ahead! I hope you will continue to join me in 2020!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
