Learn how to make sheet pancakes in the shape of an American flag this Fourth of July. This is a simple and easy to use recipe if you are feeding a large group of people. Why not start this Independence Day off with a bang and serve up some patriotic pancakes! Easy to make and super kid friendly.
Happy 4th of July! Today we made sheet pancakes into an American flag and it was so delicious! I had been seeing sheet pancakes everywhere and so this morning I had the idea to turn it into an American flag.
Yesterday I made an easy American flag fruit pizza and I had left over berries this morning. So when everyone started getting hungry I thought why don’t we turn some sheet pancakes into an American flag. My daughters were on board so they made the flag on top of the sheet pancake.
Now when I say this is easy I am not exaggerating. It’s actually a lot more simple then making pancakes because all you do is pour the batter out and decorate.
So let’s get to it!
Here’s a quick video on how we made a sheet pancake American Flag:
Here’s what you need to make a pancake sheet American flag:
- 3 Cups of Pancake Batter
- 5 Bananas
- 2 Pints of Strawberries
- Pint of Blueberries
- 11x 17″ Cookie Sheet with a raised edge
1. Make your pancake batter according to the box instructions
Ok I told you this was going to be easy. So we are going to keep it super simple and just use box pancake mix. There are a lot of great options out there but our family keeps coming back to Krusteaz pancakes. They make a nice and airy pancake so that’s what we used this morning.
We used the recipe to make 18-21 pancakes which was 3 cups of pancake batter and 2 and 1/2 cups of water. I added slightly more water than the recipe called for because I wanted the pancake mix to be the consistency of cake batter.
Butter a 11″ x17″ pan with 1-2 TBSP of butter. We melted the butter and my daughter spread it on with a napkin. You can use non stick cooking spray but the buttery flavor does add a nice touch when eating.
Spread the pancake batter around the cookie sheet. Use a spatula or just move the cookie sheet around until the batter is even.
2. Design your pancake sheet in the shape of an American flag
Cut up your bananas and strawberries or whatever fruit you choose. Decorate the top of the batter in the shape of an American flag. We started by making a blue rectangle in the left corner with the blueberries. Then starting with the strawberries we made stripes with the strawberries and bananas.
Bake your sheet pancakes for 12-14 minutes at 425 degrees. The pancakes should be set when they are ready!
These were so easy but seriously so yummy!!
My daughter’s had fun decorating the flag and it was a fun way to start our 4th of July. We topped ours with whipped cream and that made it absolutely delicious with the bananas and strawberries!
These are a perfect recipe when you are feeding a crowd and they are appealing to everyone because of the festive flag! I really highly recommend these.
We hope you enjoyed today’s recipe and that you have a wonderful 4th of July holiday! 🇺🇸
Take care and God bless!
