And the best part is it is incredibly easy to make. With just 3 ingredients it cannot be any simpler! So if you are looking for a last minute recipe for your 4th of July BBQ then I hope you will try this festive fruit pizza!
Here’s the ingredients you need to make the best fruit pizza:
- 1 Β½ cups all-purpose flour
- Β½ cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
Here’s how to make the best fruit pizza:
Step One: Make the fruit pizza crust
Combine your flour and powdered sugar in a bowl and whisk them together. Once the flour and powdered sugar are well combined. Cut in your butter. (It works best to have it at room temperature). Then use your hands and press the dough onto the bottom of a 9″x9″ pan you can also double the batch and use a larger 9″x13″ pan.
2. Bake the crust & prepare the fruit for the pizza
Bake the crust for 11-13 minutes at 350. Once your crust is very light brown and the dough no longer looks wet then it is done.
While your crust is cooling, cut your strawberries into pieces. I like to cut the strawberries into sections and then half the sections so I have one straight edge on each piece. Cut your banana into slices.
3. Frost your fruit pizza with cream cheese frosting
If you want to keep things really simple you can purchase cream cheese frosting but I will give you a recipe that is just as easy to make!
This is my go to cream cheese frosting recipe and it just adds so much to every dessert I use it with. So even if you don’t try it for the fruit pizza I hope you will try it with other desserts.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 4oz Cream Cheese
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 c butter
- 2 tsp almond extract
- 1-2 TBSP of milk
Cream the butter and cream cheese. Then add the almond extract and powdered sugar. Add the milk to get your frosting to the right consistency. Once you have a consistency you are pleased with, frost the fruit pizza with your cream cheese frosting.
4. Make a flag or other design on the top of your fruit pizza
Now it’s time to get creative! Arrange the blueberries in the shape of stars on the top left corner of the pizza, resembling the American flag. I like to make a small blue rectangle of blueberries in the upper left corner.
Use the sliced strawberries and raspberries, and make alternating rows with bananas for the red and white stripes. Feel free to experiment with different patterns and designs to make it even more visually appealing.
Refrigerate the fruit pizza for at least 30 minute to allow the flavors to meld together and to chill the dessert. I do not add a glaze on top of my fruit pizza I think less is more and the fruit pizza is just as delicious without the glaze!
Once chilled, slice the fruit pizza into wedges and serve it to your eager guests!
With its vibrant colors and fresh flavors, this easy and yummy Fourth of July fruit pizza is the perfect dessert to celebrate the holiday. The combination of sweet fruits, creamy cream cheese, and a sugar cookie crust will surely impress your family and friends.
So, grab your apron, get creative with the fruit toppings, and enjoy a slice of this delightful dessert this Independence Day.
Happy Fourth of July! πΊπΈπ
