Learn how to make chenille fabric Christmas trees. Making chenille Christmas trees are a fun way to use vintage bedspreads to add warmth and familiarity to your holiday decor. This step by step tutorial will show you how to make chenille Christmas trees for rustic charm!
How I found a vintage chenille bed spread:
Today I am going to show you how to make chenille Christmas trees from a vintage chenille bedspread. These trees use the same pattern as the fabric Christmas tree pattern. If you remember during our 12 days of Christmas Crafting I showed you how to make fabric Christmas trees. I gave a free pattern out to make your own Christmas trees. During that time I ran out of time but I wanted to make some chenille Christmas trees.
Can you believe I found a beautiful chenille bedspread in a FREE bin at a garage sale this summer? I very casually picked it up, but was incredibly excited inside! I looked around to see if anyone else realized how valuable these vintage bedspreads are! But it really was in the free box for a reason!
But the best part…there was a stain on it! You may wonder, why is that the best part? Because than I felt the freedom to cut it up and use it for craft projects! I saw pumpkins, Christmas trees and many other crafts in this vintage bedspread’s future!
Have you ever found something that you couldn’t believe at a garage sale? (Would love to hear your stories.)
How to make chenille Christmas trees out of a bed spread:
Last week I took out my large bedspread and started cutting. I used the Christmas tree pattern I shared with you last month. And got to work on making some white chenille Christmas trees.
These trees have a similar base as my other Christmas trees. So I drilled holes in wood slices and used wooden dolls as the trunks of the tree. With the biggest tree I used a vintage chair spindle. It added a re-purposed antique look.
Also when sewing these trees I left the seams unfinished side up. I tried the trees both ways. But I liked how the unfinished side gave the trees more pointy tips, like a real evergreen tree.
These trees are actually gifts for someone on my list, but I think I may have to make some more!
If you make some, I would love to see them. You can post them in our Facebook group or email them to me at elizabeth@awellpurposewoman.com.

Would love the free pattern for the chenille trees as I also have a large chenille bedspread I’m planning to use. The link above doesn’t seem to work for me when I enter my email address. It’s kellylynnd@aol.com
