Step by Step Tutorail on How to Dry Out Oranges Quickly:
Step 1: Wash & Cut your oranges
This may be obvious but start by washing and drying your oranges with a towel. Take your clean oranges and slice them into 1/4″ slices. This is pretty simple so don’t worry about doing it perfectly. Just try your best to get all of the oranges about the same size.
Step 2: Put your oranges on a baking sheet
The next step is to place your oranges on a baking sheet. You can do this one of two ways. You can just use parchment paper and place it on the baking sheet directly. Alternately you can take wire racks and put them on the baking sheet first. Then place the oranges on the racks.
Honestly both ways works fine. If the oranges are directly on the baking sheets you may want to check them more frequently. Turn them over as they are cooking more often as well.
Step 3: Bake your oranges in an oven on low heat
Now just bake your oranges in the oven at 175-200 degrees for 3-5 hours. You will want to check them at least every hour and flip them over. Continue drying them out until the oranges are no longer wet.
Tip: You may not want to wait until they are completely dry due to the amount of time it takes to dry them out. If you are going to use them on Christmas tree, banner or wreath it is fine to hang them when not 100% dry. The oranges will continue to dry as they are hanginging.
Step 4: Punch a hole in your oranges to hang them
Once your oranges are dried out fairly well you can start using them! When attaching them to a banner for a Christmas tree, to use in wreaths or on packages I like to punch a hole in the top of the orange. Then I use twine to attach it to the tree, wreath or present.
