Learn how to make a Jesus fish from beads. This tutorial will show you step by step how to make a beaded Jesus fish. Today for Day 16 of our Jesse Tree Craft we are making these beaded Jesus fish.

Today is day 16 of our Jesse Tree craft along to Christmas and we are going to make a Jesus Fish out of beads. As we are reading through the book of Jonah, Jonah had his own ideas of what he wanted to do and He went the opposite direction from what God called him to, so he was swallowed by a fish. Today we are going to make a simple fish craft out of wooden beads.
“Now the LORD provided a huge fish to swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.” Jonah 1:17
I love any craft that uses wooden beads. These Jesus fish out of beads are perfect to give as a gift topper, to hang on the tree as an ornament or to hang somewhere else as a reminder of the real meaning of Christmas.
Here’s the supplies need to make a paper bag lion:
- 28- 12 mm beads
- 18-20″ wire
- Wire cutter
Here’s how to make a Jesus Fish out of beads:
Step 1: Add 22 beads to your wire
Start by adding beads to your wire. You will want to add about 22 beads for the body of your fish. Balance the beads on the wire so that you have the same amount of wire on both sides.

Step 2: Twist the wire around the bottom of the beads
The next step is to twist your wires together to prevent the beads from moving around. Twist the wire several times around itself.

Step 3: Add four beads on each side of your wire
Now add four beads to the right side wire. Feed the bead back through the top bead and twist the wire around itself. Cut off the extra wire on the right side.

Now repeat this process for the left side.

And that’s it! Now you have these cute beaded Jesus fish
You can use more colorful beads, larger or smaller beads or alternate the color of the beads. My daughter said the plain ones are kind of boring, so feel free to make them as colorful and different as you would like!
