Today for Day 6 of our Jesse Tree Craft along let’s make DIY rainbow Christmas trees. This post will guide you and your child step by step in making these cute littel rainbow Christmas trees!

Today is day 6 of our Jesse Tree craft along to Christmas and we will be making these colorful and festive rainbow Christmas trees. Today as we read the story of Joseph and his multi colored coat we are reminded of God’s faithfulness in turning the most difficult situations in our life for good.

“Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colors..” – Genesis 37:3

After being mistreated by his brothers and sold into slavery Joseph continued to trust God. God uses unimaginable circumstances and turns them for a better outcome than Joseph could have ever imagined. And we see a story of forgiveness and trust. Ultimately pointing to Christ again.

So today we are going to use the multi colored coat as inspiration for our Christmas craft. We are going to interwine a variety of colors to make a beautiful little Christmas tree. So let’s get started!

Here’s the supplies need to make a colorful rainbow Christmas tree.

  • Cardboard
  • Multi colored thread, yarn, ribbon or rick rack
  • Twine
  • Hot Glue Gun and Gluesticks
  • Green Paint
  • Scissors
  • Wooden star & glitter

Here’s how to make a sheep ornament:

Step 1: Trace and cut out triangles

Take your cardboard and make triangle shapes. This doesn’t need to be perfect. You can trace the triangles on before cutting them out.

Step 2: Paint your tree gree and punch a hole at the top

The next step is to paint your tree green. Once the paint dries punch a hole at the top, attach twine so that you can use it to hang your ornament.

Step 3: Glue the yarn onto the tree and wrap it around the rainbow tree

The next step is to glue the yarn onto the Christmas tree. If you are child is using a hot glue gun please make sure an adult is present to help. Glue both ends of the yarn onto the tree.

Step 4: Glue a star and ornaments on your rainbow tree (Optional)

Now take glue and glue a star on the top of your rainbow tree and ornaments around on it.

And that’s it! Now you have these beautiful rainbow trees that can remind you even when life doesn’t make sense, God is sovereign and he is orchestrating the events of your life, even the unimaginable ones for His glory and your good.

“As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.” Genesis 50:20

I really hope you are enjoying this Jesse Tree craft along to Christmas! If you missed any of the other days you can catch them down below. Please let me know in the comments below if you have tried any of these yet or if you have ones that you would like to try soon!
