Today for Day 9 I have a simple and yet totally valuable gift for you! It is a Mason Jar Cookie Recipe with a free printable labels for the jars. Mason jar cookies are a wonderful gift idea for co-workers, acquaintances, neighbors or others on your gift list. They are festive and a great way to warm up someone’s day!
You can make a number of these jars together and cover a number of people on your to-do list fairly inexpensively. So if it’s 9 pm and you forgot that tomorrow you wanted to give a present to your child’s teacher. No fear, just whip up a batch of these babies! And you will be all set with a handmade gift.
And I gotta say this recipe is one of my favorites. It’s based off of a Mrs. Fields Copycat recipe. And these cookies always turn out delicious! It’s one of those no fail recipes so you know your gift will be well received.
This is a pretty easy project that kiddos can do too. My daughter Annabelle and I made cookies as we made this jar.
The hardest part about mason jar cookies is just getting the correct portion of ingredients. And just having instructions to send along with the mason jar. So to make it easier for you I created a recipe card for mason jar cookies! This recipe fits in a quart (32 oz) mason jar with a recipe card to go along with your jar!
It will really be easy peasy for you to gift to others!

Here’s what you need to make mason jar cookies:
Cookie Ingredients:
- 1 c Flour
- 1 c Quick Oats
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/2 c Brown Sugar
- 1/2 c sugar
- Chocolate Chips
Other Supplies:
- Free recipe cards (download above)
- Mason Jar (32 oz)
- Christmas paper
- Ribbon or twine
- jingle bells, berries, greens, tags
- Hot glue gun and glue-sticks
- scissors
Here’s how you make mason jar cookies:
Step 1: Layer your ingredients in your mason jar.
Starting at the top of your cookie ingredient list (flour) layer your ingredients in your mason jar. Mix flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder together. Now you have your first layer. Lay flour mixture on the top of your jar. Layer the rest of the ingredients in the order listed.
Tip: Do not mix your layers. Just lay them on top of each other on the jar. This will give you the pretty look on the sides of your jar.
Step 2: Cut out a circle to cover mason jar lid.
Using your Christmas paper. Trace the inside of the mason jar lid to make a circle that will cover the lid. Hot glue it to your lid.
Step 3: Print out your mason jar cookie recipe card
Print out the mason jar recipe card to accompany your mason jar. I would suggest printing it out on cardstock. You can line the back of the card with Christmas paper to match or compliment your lid. This will be the recipe you give with your mason jar.
Step 4: Embellish your jar with jingle bells, ribbon or berries
My favorite part of making these jars is adding some special touches with embellishments. Start by adding a ribbon around your jar. Then add some jingle bells with a small piece of twine. I also like to put some greens or berries through the ribbon. This really livens up your jar and makes them unique. You can attach your recipe card to the ribbon with a small piece of twine.
And that’s it!
Now these beautiful mason jars are ready to be given as a gift to your family and friends. They really are beautiful and fairly inexpensive. You can add some Christmas mugs or handmade coasters to give a complete Christmas basket or box!
If you don’t have time to make them now, just pin for later! Sharing is caring 🙂
I hope this helps to give you a quick and easy gift to give to others! Post below if you will be making these or something like them?
