Learn how to make these simple yarn Christmas Tree ornaments. This step by step tutorial will show you everything you need to make these cute little yarn Christmas tree onraments.

Today is Day 13 of our Craft a Day Countdown to Christmas and we are making Yarn Christmas Tree Ornaments! These little yarn Christmas tree ornaments can be made in just a few minutes. They are a great craft for adults and children alike.

Last Christmas we crafted 10 easy yarn crafts to make from scrap yarn. Then on Day 5 of our Countdown to Christmas we made larger yarn Christmas trees. Well today we are going to add a cute little Christmas tree craft to that list. If you are short on time this Christmas then this craft is for you!

So let’s get started!

Here are the supplies you need to make yarn Christmas tree ornaments:

  • Yarn or Chunky yarn
  • wooden stick or dowel
  • hot glue gun and gluesticks
  • wooden star or beads for emebellishments
  • twine to hang your ornament

Here’s how to make yarn Christmas tree ornaments:

Step 1: Tie a piece of twine at the top of your stick

Tie a piece of twine to the top of your stick. You will use the twine to hang your ornament.

Step 2: Hot glue your yarn onto your stick

The first step is to hot glue your yarn 1/2 way up on both sides of your stick. This will keep your yarn in place as you wrap your yarn and will cover the top of your Christmas tree.

Hot glue your yarn around at the bottom of the yarn on both sides.

Step 3: Wrap your yarn along your stick

Now wrap your yarn around the stick. Wrap the yarn around the areas you already glued yarn on your stick (so half of your stick will be covered with yarn).

Step 3: Continue to wrap your yarn making a Christmas tree

Now wrap your yarn multiple times around areas closer to the bottom of the tree. I wrapped yarn twice around the middle of the stick, and three to four times around the bottom of the tree.

Cut off the end of your yarn. Tuck the yarn underneath another piece of yarn.

Step 4: Embellish your yarn Christmas tree

The last step is to embellish your Christmas tree. Take woden beads or stars and hot glue them onto your tree. You can use pom poms, ribbon or other embellishments as well.

Try to Make a Larger Yarn Christmas Tree

You can also use a stick and yarn to make larger yarn Christmas trees. Just take a larger wooden dowel or stick and wrap more yarn around your tree. I used a piece of scrap wood and drilled a 1/2″ hole to attach my larger yarn Christmas tree.

And that’s all there is to making these cute little yarn Christmas trees. As always I hope you enjoyed making these little mini yarn Christmas trees. And I hope you will join us for the rest of our Countdown to Christmas. You can see any projects that you missed down below.
